OPENING DAY OF FORMAL HUNTING AND THANKSGIVING... $75
JUNIORS………………………………………………………….…... $20
Present your Capping Fee and a signed Metamora Hunt Hold Harmless form to the Honorary Secretary, Dr. Beckie Rea, (586) 716-5900, prior to the scheduled time of the meet. Please make every effort to accomplish this the day before.
- Arrive at the meet tacked up and ready to ride 15 minutes before the scheduled time. When trailering, inquire where to park and allow sufficient time.
- Immediately upon arriving at the meet, locate and introduce yourself to a master of foxhounds. The importance of this cannot be overemphasized.
- Dress for informal season is “Ratcatcher” – riding coat and tie (women may wear neckbands), tan or rust breeches, and black of brown boots. Riding gloves are optional. Traditional riding hats are required. Dress for the formal hunt season is black or navy hunting coat, stock tie, tan breeches and black dress boots. Consult a master with questions, or to inquire about borrowing items that you do not own.
- Ride behind members of the hunt who have been awarded their colors unless invited to do otherwise. This is a matter of both safety and etiquette. Maintain at least a horse’s length between you and the horse in front of you. If you feel your horse may kick or buck, tie a piece of red yarn in its tail to alert other riders. If you must leave early, ask permission from the master as to the time and location that will be safest and avoid interference with hounds.
- Stay to the edge of planted fields so as to avoid crop damage. Avoid mowed grass areas. If approached by a landowner or follower, direct them to a master.
- Do not speak to hounds. If you carry a hunting whip, do not crack it.
- Smile and enjoy yourself.
For information about memberships and the number of times you may cap in as a guest, contact the honorary secretary. Visits to our kennels to meet hounds are encouraged and should be arranged through hunt management.
